Fennies South Croydon is home to our original Fennies nursery where our journey started over 30 years ago. The nursery has been meticulously designed with children’s development at the forefront, features bright and spacious interiors that promotes a calming atmosphere whilst encouraging exploration.
South Croydon is in an ideal location, just a 4-minute drive away from either Purley Oaks or Sanderstead Train Stations. Combine this with space for buggy storage and area for-pick up and drop-off, it's both convenient and accessible for busy local families who may have a commute ahead of them.
Explore The Nursery
Fennies South Croydon is a beautiful nursery designed to provide a welcoming and stimulating setting for every stage of early childhood development.
Inside, bright and spacious rooms encourage children to explore freely and build confidence in their abilities. Calming areas are included throughout to support emotional regulation and foster curiosity.
Outside, the nursery boasts an amazing garden that encourages hands-on discovery and promotes active play with a water feature and a ‘Fennies Station’ that is great for role play activities.
Explorers Room (3 Months - 18 Months)

The Explorers Room at South Croydon welcomes babies into a calm, nurturing environment designed to support sensory exploration and early physical development. Our caring team follows consistent routines to provide security while introducing new experiences to spark curiosity. With a 1:3 staff-to-child ratio, each baby receives personalised attention, ensuring their feeding, sleep and developmental milestones are closely supported in partnership with families.
Discoverers Room (18 Months - 24 Months)

The Discoverers Room supports toddlers through the exciting transition from infancy to early toddlerhood. Children are encouraged to move freely, explore new interests, and develop their communication skills. The team introduces routines around mealtimes and early toileting that foster independence and confidence. With a 1:3 staff-to-child ratio, toddlers benefit from focused support and encouragement at this key stage.
Creators Room (2 Years - 3 Years)

In the Creators Room, children aged 2 to 3 years enjoy developing independence, social skills and early language. This space supports open-ended play through sensory activities, role play and early mark-making. Children also begin forming close friendships and taking pride in small responsibilities, such as helping with mealtime routines. With a 1:5 staff-to-child ratio, our team is always available to provide tailored support. Bathroom facilities within the room encourage positive, gentle toilet training that helps children feel confident and secure.
Inventors Room (3 Years - 5 Years)

The Inventors Room prepares children for the transition to school, offering an inspiring space where learning feels engaging and purposeful. Children explore literacy, numeracy and STEAM activities that foster creativity and problem-solving. With a 1:8 staff-to-child ratio, children develop independence while receiving expert guidance. Free-flow access to learning resources encourages curiosity, while carefully chosen materials mirror real-life experiences to deepen their understanding of the world.
Garden

The outdoor space at our South Croydon nursery provides opportunities for active play, physical development and exploration. The garden is designed to encourage teamwork and creativity, giving children the chance to run, climb and investigate their surroundings. Outdoor play is embedded into daily routines, helping children build strong social skills and a lasting connection to the natural world.

Chloe (Deputy Manager)

Chloe’s love for baking shines through in her Early Years practice, where she shares this passion with the children by teaching them valuable life skills through hands-on experiences. Deeply rooted in her community, Chloe builds strong connections with local businesses and charities, giving children opportunities to explore their wider world and develop a sense of belonging. Throughout her Early Years career, she has found joy in mentoring new practitioners, helping them grow in confidence and reach their full potential. Looking ahead, Chloe is driven by a vision to develop a curriculum that inspires curiosity and creativity, supporting every child’s learning journey from their first steps to school readiness.
The Education Team
Paula (Regional SENCO And Inclusion Manager)
Paula plays an integral role in offering support to children with additional needs or those learning English as an Additional Language (EAL). She plays a key role in enhancing our team’s understanding of both SENCO and EAL empowering us to provide the best possible care.
Ruth (Education Advisor)
Ruth is pivotal in motivating our teams to create engaging and stimulating environments for our children. She is a strong advocate for our initiatives like our ‘Book of the Month’ and our recently introduced ‘Music and Movement’ campaign. Music-based activities are essential to our curriculum due to their profound impact on brain and emotional development, along with its benefits on children’s holistic well-being during their Early Years.
Majka (Art Specialist)
Majka frequently visits all of our nurseries, including our South Croydon nursery, to guide the children in learning through art. Each month, she introduces an ‘Artist of the Month’, encouraging children to explore various art activities inspired by that artist’s works.
Recruitment At Fennies

At Fennies South Croydon, we follow a clear and thorough recruitment process to welcome new team members who are passionate about Early Years education.
Our rigorous approach ensures the highest standards of safeguarding, care and education are always maintained. Every new member of the team completes a detailed induction to prepare them for their role, and by their second day, they complete paediatric first aid training. This equips them with the vital skills needed to contribute to a safe and supportive environment for every child.

That’s why at Fennies South Croydon, we maintain high standards through regular quality audits. These are carried out by Regional Managers in collaboration with Rageena, Head of Compliance, and Eleanor, Head of Education, ensuring consistent excellence across all areas of care and education.
Specialist Education Team
Children at South Croydon also benefit from the expertise of our Specialist Education Team, which includes our SENDCO Specialist, Art Specialist and Education Advisor. These specialists bring extra depth to children’s experiences with initiatives such as the ‘Artist of the Month’ and ‘Book of the Month’. Children also enjoy trips into the community, like visits to the local library, and families can borrow from our Lending Library to continue nurturing a love of literacy at home.
Famly App
The Famly App keeps parents connected with real-time updates about their child’s day. From routines and milestones to photographs and nursery news, the app ensures families are always engaged and informed. This ongoing communication builds strong parent partnerships and supports children’s progress.
Food At Fennies
At our South Croydon nursery, our kitchen team prepares fresh, balanced meals every day, tailored to children’s tastes and dietary requirements. Our menus change twice yearly to reflect seasonal produce and are accredited by the Early Years Alliance (EYA). We prioritise locally sourced ingredients to provide nourishing meals that fuel active learning and play.
Meal times are relaxed social occasions, where children build table manners and independence in a calm setting. The team encourages children to try new foods while respecting their preferences, ensuring positive associations with mealtimes. Hydration is also a priority, with water freely available throughout the day.
Safety And Security

Fennies South Croydon, St. Augustine’s Avenue is secured through a secure, monitored entry system, only allowing access to registered parents, carers or approved members of the team. All people that visit the setting will be accompanied by an educator throughout their visit to ensure each child’s day is safe and secure, all the way from drop-off to pick-up.
Hygiene
Providing a safe and healthy environment is a cornerstone of life at South Croydon. We follow strict hygiene practices to minimise the spread of germs and promote wellbeing. Handwashing is embedded into daily routines, and team members model good personal hygiene at all times.
Every evening, two dedicated housekeepers clean the nursery thoroughly, and a full deep clean takes place each quarter to maintain exceptional standards.
