What you need:
  • Paper With The Alphabet Listed
  • Clipboards
  • Pens
What to do:
  1. Get Ready: Prepare a clipboard for each child or group with a sheet listing all letters A–Z.
  2. Go Exploring: On a nature walk, challenge children to find items that begin with each letter.
  3. Record Findings: As they find each item, write it next to the correct letter on the sheet.
  4. Celebrate: At the end, review the list together and talk about favourite finds!
Tip!
Take the opportunity to connect literacy with the natural world. Encourage the use of descriptive language alongside the item they record such as ‘big leaf’.
