| KINGSHALL DAY NURSERY ( EY 376223)
Kingshall nursery in Beckenham is a fully equipped nursery situated in a lovely three storey Victorian house. There are plenty of parking spaces as the nursery is located in a residential road where there are no parking restrictions so commuter child care is an option.
The nursery is located within easy walking distance from local bus routes (227, 358 and the 194), railway stations including Clock House, Kent House, New Beckenham, Penge East and West as well as the Beckenham Junction tram stop.
We are open Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm, 51 weeks of the year, and we close for Bank Holidays and a week at Christmas.
The practitioners caring for the children in the nursery have knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage and plan activities for the children to further their development at every stage based on the individual child’s developmental needs.
On the first floor we have two baby rooms for children from the ages of three months to two years of age. The staff ratio in the baby room is 1:3
Included in their daily routine are story time, singing, puppets and musical instruments. Each child is encouraged to develop and use their senses by exploring different textures with messy play, sand, water and painting.
On the ground floor we have a free flow mixed group of toddlers and pre-school where children are able to move freely between activities. The staff ratio is 1:6.
The room is divided into different sections to encourage both their physical and emotional development. The messy area has paints, play dough, glue, sand, glitter, shaving foam and water play. The language and literacy is a large and comfortable area which has an extensive selection of books and computers. The maths area has a large construction and various table top activities. Our role play area changes to coincide with each theme. Also included in the day to day activities we have visits from specialists in other fields such as dance & movement and language, these activities helping to expand each child's abilities.
Our planned activities are play based for both inside and outside as we value the importance of outdoor play. We are especially lucky as the garden is large which allows the children to develop their physical skills. There are plenty of scooters, bikes and push along toys as well as a herb garden where the children delight in growing various herbs, vegetables and flowers.
