Beech House nursery is a small intimate nursery in Sanderstead with a large garden and a friendly family feel. There are parking spaces available at the nursery in a residential road where there are no parking restrictions. The nearest train station is South Croydon and the 412 bus stop is within easy walking distance.
We are open Monday to Friday between 7.45am and 6pm, 51 weeks of the year, and we close for Bank Holidays and a week at Christmas.
We focus on providing a safe environment for parents to leave their children knowing that we are promoting independence, confidence and encouraging social interaction before children leave for school. We have links in the local area to the primary schools and work with them sharing knowledge when children are moving on.
Beech House will always endeavour to work with individual families and any attached outside agencies with regards to any potential special need.
The practitioners caring for the children in the nursery have knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage and plan activities for the children to further their development at every stage based on the individual child’s developmental needs.
The nursery includes two baby rooms on the first floor. The Kittens room for children age between 3 months and one year, and the Cubs room for the 1 to 2 year olds. The staff ratio in these rooms are 1:3 and each child is allocated a Key-Worker.
At the end of each day we give you feedback, both verbal and in the form of a daily report sheet, keeping you up to date with all the activities your child has experienced throughout the day. These rooms work together with four members of staff to prepare babies for toddler and pre-school rooms. The staff are calm, patient and loving with the babies and are always there for a cuddle. A baby's day is full of play and exciting activities which will include painting, drawing, cooking and garden play. There is also singing, story telling and various music styles playing in the background every day.

On the ground floor we have a free flow mixed group of toddlers and pre-school. The staff ratio for this room is 1:6. There are five members of staff who provide a friendly and fun atmosphere. Children are able to flow between a messy room, a main play room and the garden. There are a variety of activities on hand each day for the children to chose from. The messy room contains messy play, paint, glue, sand, shaving foam for example and also two computers and a language and literacy area. The main playroom has a role play area and a large comfortable book area. There are table top activities which reflect the curriculum planning and the next steps for individual children.
The garden is sectioned into two areas, one which is grassed with natural features including trees, bushes, a digging area and a herb garden. The other has a soft play surface which offers a play area when the grassed area is wet. There are a variety of exciting resources to encourage childrens development. These include resources like climbing frames, balls and a parachute for physical play. To promote language and literacy you will find writing materials, books and verbal games. There are also many activities to promote knowledge outside these include sand, water and various building opportunities. We also breed butterflies once during the year which the children love.
